A meniscus is a C-shaped piece of cartilage in the knee that provides a cushion between thighbone and shinbone. At times, the meniscus gets torn for various reasons which makes the knee swell, stiff and has the pain. And it the time when the knee can’t be stretched fully.
There are many types of common knee injuries and a torn meniscus features among them. A torn meniscus can result when the knee is forcibly twisted or rotated. Such cases reported more when the knee twists or rotates at a time when it has the pressure of one’s entire body weight.

• The knee pains when you twist or rotate it • There is a popping sensation • You would experience a swell or stiffness • It would be tough to straighten the knee fully • When moving the knee feels tough
Treatment of Meniscus Repair
An open surgery is involved in the surgical procedure of repairing the meniscus. A tiny cut is made and the knee is opened up for the procedure to take place.
Arthroscopic surgery too is used to repair the meniscus. In arthoscopy, a big incision is not needed, as the doctor inserts a thin camera-containing tube in the knee via a tiny cut. After the cut, the meniscus is repaired with the help of stitches. The need and kind of surgery varies as per the patient.
